Energy Healing Information
Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese word meaning “Universal Life Force”. The “Ki” part is the same word as “Chi” or
“Qi”, the Chinese word for energy, which underlies everything. Energy is what the universe is made of.
A Reiki practitioner is like an electrical conductor, or a pathway for this healing energy to be received
by the body/mind/spirit. Energy Healing or ‘Laying on of Hands” goes back many thousands of years
and is only one of the forms of healing used by the Master Jesus that are documented in the Bible. The
Reiki system uses a specific pattern of hand placement to help you receive this energy.
Laying on of hands is very similar to Reiki. In Reiki we use specific hand placements, but with laying on
of hands the practitioner is free to work in any area that may be in need of healing. For instance, if you
have an injury to the arm, the practitioner is free to work in that one area or move around the body as
needed and as Spirit directs.
Chakras are the major power centers of the body and they can become blocked and under/over active
because of day-to-day stress, illness and emotional upset. Keeping these centers open and properly
functioning is essential. Chakras balancing is similar to Reiki in that is still involves directing energy,
but to specific power centers of the body.
The 8 major centers are: the root, navel (three inches below the belly button) solar plexus (spleen),
heart, throat, third eye (directly between the eyebrows), crown (top of the head) and the higher self or
soul, about three feet above your head.
The 12 minor centers are: Feet, knees, hips, hands, elbows and shoulders. Notice these 12 minor Chakras
are at the major joints in your body. All have to do with moving forward and flexibility.
